As a CPA, CA with a background in accounting and finance, my skills will help the city work with a limited budget. Overseeing Toronto’s $18 million operating budget and $63 billion capital budget is a big responsibility. City Council appoints external auditors for its annual statutory audit. Our elected officials should bring the same level of technical competency. The growth of city revenue should be a focus before putting more pressure on households and user fees.
